There is a volunteer opportunity waiting for you!

Shelter:

  1. Assist with apartment search and moving. 
  2. Staff crisis hotline on weeknights and weekends.
  3. Child care
  4. Transport clients to appointments.
  5. Share talents; such as job search assistance, resume writing, nutrition/ cooking, home safety, makeover, hair, fashion, coffee time.

Advocacy Office:

  1. Assist and assemble legal information regarding issues for victims of domestic violence.
  2. Regularly track legislation and write legislators (with approval of Director of Advocacy).
  3. Reception and clerical

Other Agency Opportunities:

  1. Assist with donations. 
  2. Yard work, planting flowers, decorating and baking for special holidays.
  3. Organize collections for food, personal items, cleaning supplies, paper products, household items, clothes, etc.
  4. Administrative and clerical assistance.
  5. Newsletter Mailings
  6. Co-facilitate support group
  7. Assist with presentations for community programs
  8. Assist with fundraising events.
  9. Tabling events.
  10. Become a member of the Board of Directors.

‘Survivors Helping Survivors’ Program

Upon successful completion of the Shelter Residence Program, clients (survivors) will be offered the opportunity to participate in a “Survivor’s Helping Survivors” program at the SOS Shelter.  This program will offer the client the chance to volunteer time at the Shelter in whatever capacity that staff determines appropriate.
